The Reds traded popular reserve outfielder Chris Heisey to the Los Angeles Dodgers for RHP Matt Magill.

Heisey was drafted by the Reds in the 17th round of the 2006 draft.  The outfielder who turns 30 on December 14, played 543 games with the Reds.

Magill, 25, in 2014 went 7-6 with a 5.21 ERA in 36 appearances and 12 starts for Triple-A Albuquerque.  In 2012 for Double-A Chattanooga, he posted a 3.75 ERA and struck out 168 batters over 146.1 innings and 26 starts and was named to the Southern League All-Star team. In 2013, the native Californian made 6 starts for the Dodgers in his Major League debut.

"We are excited to be adding a player with a power arm who has a chance to help our club next season," Jocketty said of the 6-3, 210-pound Magill.

The Reds did not offer arbitration-eligible relief pitchers, Curtis Partch and Logan Ondrusek, contracts.  The players become free agents and can sign with any team, including the Reds.
